Beautiful May days

The last few weeks have been a steady stream of kids activities, some date nights, Teacher Appreciation Week (3 lists plus some teacher lunches! I did so well this year, only forgot gift card day for Nathan's class, oops). Brian was gone in Menlo Park from Monday to Thursday of that week, so I am extra proud of how well I did on my own, ha! We have done so much yard work, enjoying the lovely weather outside. We finally finished off that enormous pile of mulch, what an accomplishment! Mother's Day was a lovely day! Got breakfast in the morning and loved all the kids' gifts. The kids and I planted our little vegetable garden, so we'll see what comes up! Not sure it's in the best place right beside the deck but it was the only option so we'll hope for the best. Our friends, the Daveys, came over in the afternoon and we ordered some take out Vietnamese food for dinner.

Oh some news for me is that I got glasses again, sigh. It's unclear whether or not my eyesight has gotten worse since Lasik 3 years ago, I kind of think not, I just think I got used to not seeing perfectly after the original healing period. The glasses are so helpful when I'm in low light areas, love them for watching TV and driving in the dark. At least they are only -0.75 and -0.25 so I could get whatever frames I wanted! The things you don't take for granted when you used to be pretty much blind!

Hard to believe it's almost June, we are in the home stretch at school! I'm being bombarded with field trip forms and potlucks and year end parties are just around the corner, I can make it! Lynsey has a piano recital on Sunday and a gymnastics "performance" on June 9th. She has so much going on in her life, so weird how as a parent your life becomes about what the kids have in their lives - so what does that mean about what you actually have in your own life?? Haha! We have a lot of things to look forward to this summer so it's all good, looking forward to another change in routine.

Let the summer begin!

May - I love the beginning of warm sunny days, but feeling the exhaustion of the end of the school year! The rest of April was pretty good, not too eventful. The last week or so has been pretty busy, we got a huge load of mulch last Friday and I've been slowly but surely working my way through the front and back yard spreading it all. The worst part of it is that we were told we should put cardboard down first as a weed blocker, and finding such huge volumes of cardboard has been quite a challenge! I've been scavenging on neighborhood Facebook groups, friends, stores - Costco turned out to be quite a score because of the big square pieces of cardboard that separate the layers on their pallets. The problem is they never have a bunch all at once so I have to keep going back . . . and ask again . . . I think I may have scavenged enough today to hopefully finish off the yard. There is still quite a pile of mulch out there, but the end is in sight! Looking forward to just enjoying the fruits of my labor! Brian has been working in the ravine, so while he hasn't done a whole lot with this mulch project, he has been busy doing other stuff;-).

I went with Lynsey's class on a field trip to the state capital building in Olympia this past Tuesday. It was a lot of fun! I learned a lot, I think I was more interested than most of the fifth graders:-D. It was nice for Lynsey that I came along, I think she sees the end of her field trip days coming and she wanted me to be able to come and enjoy this one with her.

Not much else to report from the Kroeker house at this point. Adam is doing pretty well, he was a bit sick this week so he's been a bit irritable. Lots of repetition. He did have to stay home on Monday because he threw up in the morning. It was a bit funny actually, clearly throwing up made him feel a ton better, so when he heard that he didn't have to go to school, he was in the best mood for the rest of the day! I guess in some ways he is typical after all:-).
