I guess I'm getting to the stage of our family where I'm just not taking many photos anymore unless we are on vacation or we are doing an activity of some sort. I made myself get my camera out at volleyball practice the other day and Brian has strict instructions to take pictures when they go snowboarding, which they did a few times over the last month. Adam and I enjoyed our quiet days at home and then some MOD pizza for dinner.
We've had some sick kiddos over the last month as well, Lynsey missed several days of school and each of the boys had a day or two off as well at different times. Adam was barely sick and was happy as can be to be picked up from school for a home day:-/.
I started the process for new carpet and a new stair railing last week! It's almost all sorted, carpet will be installed on March 21st and the finisher will come in before. He will also do all the baseboard on the carpeted areas so we will finally have matching baseboard everywhere (except in the upstairs bathrooms, we are kind of leaving those as they are because they need a whole big overhaul at some point!). Slowly but surely we are bringing this house out of the 80's and it looks better all the time! Next big project with be to replace the kitchen countertops and stain/paint the cupboards. Not sure when that will happen, we had talked about this summer but will see how we feel after this next phase.
Volleyball has been keeping Lynsey and I very busy! We had a three day tournament this past weekend, and Lynsey did amazing!! I have never seen her hit the ball so hard, something definitely seems to be clicking with her. The team had some good games and some not so great games, but this weekend I definitely saw some glimpses of how good it could be. I am struggling a bit in my role at the moment, the girls seems to be struggling to see me as an authority figure and I am not sure how to handle it. It's never really come up before, certainly I never felt last year like the girls didn't respect me. I am going to try a new approach at practices and games and see where it gets me. I think I've come down a bit heavy handed at times and they haven't responded to that at all (Heidi isn't like that and while I think the team needs some discipline, I have to accept that what I am currently doing is not achieving the purpose). Will see if I can figure out how to get them to listen to and respect me a bit more. I think what I am learning is that 17s is a bit older than my target group would be for coaching - I think 14s or 15s would be my sweet spot.
We have another Power League tournament on Saturday so we will see how we do. We are now in the bottom division so we really have nowhere to go but up. Hopefully the girls show up to play and we can climb out of the basement!
