Settling into our new normal!

Wow I can't believe it's been over two weeks since my last post! It's hard to keep up with sorting through all the pictures and articulating what is going on with each kid as often as I want to, but I'm determined to push through! One day I'll be really glad I did:).

Nathan continues to have his ups and downs, but continues to get better gradually. His gassy times continue to be less and less, and his nights are gradually getting better as well. We put him in his crib last week! He actually does really well in there (although his first night in there was terrible, but that could just be a coincidence). He had a checkup last Tuesday (8 weeks) and he was 11lb 13oz and 24 inches long. Not NEARLY as heavy as Adam at that age, but very long for sure. He is so alert now when he's awake, and seems to really love interacting with us! He especially loves Lynsey talking to him, which thrills her beyond belief:). He loves watching Adam, but Adam doesn't try to talk to him really. He just gives him his little mini-hugs to show him that he loves his little brother. The other night he was laying on my lap and I've never seen such furious kicks from him! I think his personality will be more like Lynsey's was as a baby than Adam's, but I guess only time will tell!

I feel as though I am settling in and getting back to a functioning person again:). Sleep is still not fantastic, but it's good enough that I can have people over again and get out when I need to without being completely frazzled. I am newly energized about dealing with Adam and Lynsey since Brian and I took turns attending a Positive Discipline conference this weekend. I had read the books, but especially since Nathan came along, have totally failed in following through on the principles I'd learned. The conference was a fantastic refresher and Brian and I are both ready to be super-parents now:). I am seriously hoping this feeling lasts and doesn't go away the first time I get really mad! I did get tested a bit yesterday when I took Lynsey to watch Jana's volleyball game at the U of C. She got bored and started whining to go home before I was ready to go. I managed to stay reasonably calm, and although I didn't handle the situation perfectly, did not lose it and lash out at her the way I might have before. Baby steps!

I've been pretty faithfully working out, getting ready for my race in Canmore in two weeks. I already know I will not do nearly as well as I did last year, but I have accepted that since I haven't trained nearly as long! The weight is very slowly starting to come off, only a few pounds so far, but it's a start! Hoping for a pound or two a week until I reach my goal (pre-pregnancy weight).
