New seasons, new challenges

Only three pictures this time! My picture taking really ebbs and flows. Must try to remember to take out the camera more.

Fall has arrived, although temperatures are still pretty good - high teens to low 20's. I am still consistently going to the gym, have not lost the weight I gained over the summer, but I'm confident it will happen soon:). Brian is working hard at work, there has been lots of pressure lately to get things done so he's been working a little bit extra at home here and there. Not a lot, thankfully. The kids are working hard at their "jobs" - Lynsey is enjoying Grade 2, Adam is mastering some things at preschool (apparently they are working on facial expressions and he finally got "pouting" the other day!), and Nathan is playing hard at home and in the gym childcare! I had a conversation with him the other day: Nathan: "Mom, where's the blocks bag?" Me: "I think it's in the living room." Him: "No it's not in the living room." So I got up to look, and sure enough, it was in one of the shopping carts in the kitchen:). So fun to have so much back and forth talking with him!

I got Nathan and Lynsey's Halloween costumes sorted out this week - Lynsey wanted to be Elsa, so naturally Nathan HAD to be Olaf! We only bought it today, but he did not want to take off his costume to eat! We are now in a place that we knew was inevitable but is still a bit painful to acknowledge - Nathan has passed Adam in awareness and interest in things like dressing up for Halloween. So what do we do now? Adam won't even WANT to wear a costume, much less care about it and think it's fun. Brian says we should get him a blue hat and maybe some brown boots and vest and call him Christoph from Frozen. He might agree to wear that because it wouldn't be that different from regular clothes. I know he wouldn't care if he didn't wear any costume at all, but it doesn't feel right to just leave him out of all these things because he doesn't care. These are the kinds of things that we will always be struggling with, I know this. It's just beginning, and we'll just have to do the best we can!

I am going to Tacoma today with a friend from Lynsey's school to participate in the Neon Run! It looks like a lot of fun, kind of like the Color Me Rad race I did a few years ago, but at night and with Neon stations spraying neon stuff at you instead of the color powder. It's supposed to be safe and wash out. Weather is looking good, looking forward to it!
