I can't believe it's really Labor Day weekend! Had the kids' school meet n greets this last week and it's real all right! School is starting again, and my baby is off to Kindergarten. This next week promises to be quite an exhausting week but we will make it through!
First I have to talk about our trip to Alberta! We made it there and back, and it was a wonderful and most worthwhile trip! My driving time with the kids alone was pretty much drama free, I stopped just after the border in Abbotsford for a bathroom stop and Starbucks treat, and then off we went to Kamloops where we met with Mark and Frances. Adam jumped in with them after a little break at Tim Hortons and off we went to Revelstoke. Our condo was really nice, there was a gondola in the back and this mountain pipe coaster, so we had a few things to do the next day before going on the last leg of our journey. We convinced Adam to go on the gondola (although he really resisted and I'm sure there were people that were seriously questioning my parenting forcing him to get on) - but as suspected, he loved it once we got going! It was very smoky so there wasn't too much of a view from the top unfortunately, but still a fun experience. Lynsey and Mark did the pipe coaster while the rest of us just cheered them on (definitely not my cup of tea!). There was a lot of construction between Revelstoke and Calgary so the drive back to Calgary felt very long, even though it was only 400km:-S. We did make it there eventually and the kids were thrilled to see Grandma and Grandpa's new place!
We had a great week in Alberta, visiting friends and making a trip to Three Hills where we got to see quite a lot of my family, too! Brian flew in late Thursday night so he got to spend a few days there, too. We drove back the WHOLE way on Sunday - it was a very long day! However, it went really well! Adam had really toned down his repetitive behaviors and so we had a really peaceful trip! What a nice surprise:-). On Monday, we of course had to watch the much anticipated eclipse, although it was a bit anti-climactic to be honest. I was hoping it would get a bit darker, but apparently covering 90% of sun still makes it pretty bright out. It got a bit cooler for a bit and felt a bit like dusk, it was interesting enough. Lynsey had a great week at camp with her friends Alice and Maggie, and she made it through the Thursday overnight portion as well!
On Saturday I went up to Vancouver to go to my friend Henry's wedding. It was so much fun! Hung out with a bunch of my old friends from La Crete! The wedding was tons of fun, so glad I was able to go. This last week I have just been trying to get ready for back to school, and clean the house for my "back to school barbeque" with some friends last night. It was a lot of fun! On Monday we get to have family pictures taken again, can you believe it's that time of year again?? I feel like we just did them:-/. Wish us luck! It has to start getting better soon, right??
