Well, here we are - it's after November 3rd, and Lynsey is officially a teenager! I guess I should back up and talk about Halloween first, so let's do that:-).
Halloween was of course a bit different this year, but we were actually able to have a more normal experience than I even thought we would. We got some pumpkins from Costco and carved them a few days before Halloween, always an adventure! As always Adam enjoyed playing with the pumpkin guts while the kids and Brian (who always ends up carving Adam's pumpkin) worked hard at their creations. Halloween night was actually a lot of fun! The weather was completely perfect - dry and not too cold, and with a cool moon to boot! The neighborhood decided to do trick or treating with tables at the end of driveways at 4:30 which ended up working really well. It was great to see everyone out at the same time, so many neighbors sat outside to say hi to all the trick or treaters, it was a really great atmosphere! The kids had fun trick or treating, Adam did great wearing his puppy costume and went for at least a half hour before he was ready to head back. I went over to the Daveys house with Lynsey after supper and her and Jake trick or treated around their neighborhood for a bit while I hung out with Kristy and Andy. All in all a really fun Halloween night!
Brian's parents came into town Monday, and we've been hanging out mostly at home so far. Lynsey of course had her birthday on Tuesday, which also happened to be election day, but as we all know nothing was announced that night and nothing crazy has happened since so that's a relief:-/. There was some drama when there was a 3.5 hour power outage during the day, always fun. Thankfully it came back on before dinnertime! Definitely a different birthday than she's had in the past, but she had fun! She did also get to see her friend Ari in person for the first time in months on Sunday, which was really fun for her. I guess we will find out what the teenage years have in store for her - and for us!
Brian and I are heading to Los Angeles for a mini-getaway on Sunday, I can't wait! We are only going for two nights, but I am so looking forward to a change of scenery for a few days. Brian's parents are watching the kids which is such a blessing. Hoping for some sun and relaxation!
