Jiggidy jog? Yes, we made it home after our long trip to Alberta/Paris! We had a lovely time. After the campout we spent some more time with Mike and Annie and Brian's parents before heading to Salmon Arm on Thursday to cabin camp with Bobbi and Jer. It was such a fun weekend! We loved the campground, the cabins were perfectly lovely (having a fridge while camping is a game changer!) and the weather was really nice! The first day we just hung around the site (other than trips to town to get groceries and coffee etc) and the kids swam in the pool a few times. Saturday we decided to check out the beach close by and it was so nice! The water was warm and the kids had a great time. I got to see my friend Kendra in the evening for a few hours which was so amazing - how I wish we lived closer to each other! All in all, a great trip that we would happily do again. We mesh really well with Bobbi and Jer and would definitely camp with them again.
We got home Sunday in the early evening after a relatively uneventful drive home (the very best kind) and I have been trying to get caught up on life. Monday was a whirlwind day, I got a bunch of laundry done and went to volleyball practice. Found out that there almost certainly will NOT be a spot for me on the coaching staff, which really sent me in a bit of a tail spin. It was pretty disappointing news, I was sure there was more hope the last time I talked to the coach. It made me think maybe something I did caused her to say there wasn't a spot. Certainly not the news I wanted to hear. I've spent the last few days processing, and was able to clear up some of the feelings by yesterday. I heard from the other coach that I worked with for two weeks before going up to Alberta, and she had some really encouraging words for me which I so appreciated. I did get in touch with the head coach by text to let her know I wouldn't be coming to practices anymore since it didn't look like they needed me and I wasn't staying on in the Fall, and she said that she would see about the other potential coach that might be returning and let me know if there was any room. Not promising, but I've done everything I can do. They know I'm willing to help out, paid or not, so the ball is in their court. Sometimes life hands you bad news, what can you do! I am feeling way better now that at least I know it wasn't something I did wrong, it was more just that they just take the people that were there before and it's hard to break into a program like this. If I keep hanging around, who knows - maybe something will open up at some point!
In other news, we (and by we I mean mostly Brian, who is still off work) set up the pool Monday - and just in the nick of time, whew! It has been HOT the last few days! Adam has been loving getting in the pool several times a day, and Nathan has gone in a few times as well. He is actually at an Engineering camp this week so he's been pretty busy, but his friend Henry came over after camp yesterday and swam with him for a bit which was a lot of fun for him. We've had a few issues with the pool, the pump is being very finicky so we had to order another one that should get here tomorrow (just went with another cheap one, hopefully this one will last us at least another two years!) and there is likely a small leak somewhere on the bottom of the pool that we can't find. The water level is hardly being affected so we have decided not to stress about it. It's only going to be up for about a month so I am trying not to be such a perfectionist! It is providing a lot of enjoyment and relief from the heat (even for me! I enjoyed my pool time yesterday afternoon as well!).
Have I mentioned how great it is to have Brian off work still now that we are home? It is quite lovely! He takes his turns with camp carpool, takes a bigger role in meals, all the things you can do when you are not working:-). Too bad he can't retire just yet lol.
