Covid finally gets me:-(

We are officially in the Spring season! The weather is starting to get a bit better, last weekend was really nice, but this weekend it's going to get cold again sadly. Looking forward to more sunshine and warmth SOON!

What has been happening around here! Yikes I feel like a lot. We celebrated Nathan by going out for dinner on his birthday and giving him his gifts from us. Brian and I went to Cirque du Soliel in Seattle on Friday night which was a lot of fun. Nathan's party was on Saturday, he went to a trampoline park with some friends. It was a bit iffy whether or not we should do the party because he got sick on Wednesday and had to stay home from school for a few days. I was also sick that whole week. I had to lead volleyball practice on Monday and Wednesday because Sabry was even sicker than I was, but it was an interesting week. Well, towards the end of the week, a few of the girls on the volleyball team were reporting that they tested positive for Covid. Suddenly I'm wondering if I had it first and passed it to them - and to Nathan?? He started feeling better, and I was starting to feel better, so we decided to go ahead with the party. It was a great time for the boys:-). Hurray for Nathan turning 11!

On Sunday, Brian took Lynsey and Nathan snowboarding. Adam was experiencing some symptoms and another girl on the team tested positive, so I decided to use our last few tests to test both Adam and myself. They were decisively positive:-(. I started feeling just awful thinking I must have had it first and given it to everyone, but there was no way to know for sure. Well, Adam and I had to isolate for the week but thankfully Lynsey tested negative and Brian had no symptoms so it was just the two of us. It didn't take long into the week for me to realize that I must have actually picked it up after I had my original cold, because I actually got sick AGAIN! Ugh. It wasn't terrible, a bad cold, but very annoying for sure. 3 years I was able to avoid getting Covid. Oh well - glad I survived!

The good thing about testing positive on the weekend was that all of the volleyball girls and myself were still able to go to the tournament in Centralia over the weekend! I still had the odd coughing fit, but otherwise managed okay. When we got there Saturday morning, it was all very overwhelming. Huge gym, parking was a hassle, so many people, and then we get to the court where we are supposed to officiate and I find out that I will be coaching and reffing alone all weekend - Sabry has to be with his 13 year old team. Okay fine about the coaching, but I was going to have to R1! I totally panicked, I had never done that before and was sooo uncomfortable with it! Sabry was very kind and went to get the tournament official. He kindly stayed as the down ref for my first match which was very helpful. I could look to him to confirm any calls I was making. Thankfully the match wasn't close so I didn't have to make any game changing calls or anything. The tournament was fun, although we didn't win a whole lot. We played a lot of good teams which we were not used to. It was good for us, though. Saturday night, Lynsey stayed with Arabella in the house her parents rented and I got the hotel room to myself which was actually really nice. I slept pretty well. We only played two matches on Sunday but we had to hang around most of the day anyway. It was a very tiring weekend for sure, but pretty fun all in all!

This past Saturday, Brian and I went to the Kraken/Oilers game! The weather was beautiful, it was a 1pm game so we went early, parked and had lunch nearby. The game was so much fun! All the more fun because the Oilers won of course:-D. Sunday, Lynsey and I had another tournament. We had moved up to the higher division because in our last power league we apparently won enough games that they thought we should play harder teams. Well, as it turns out, we didn't fare so well. We did win the last game of the day which was nice, we got to go home at 4 instead of staying to ref the 4pm game. It was nice to go out on a winning note. Lynsey drove the whole way home from Puyallip, she is really getting better at driving! It's a bit stressful for me still, but definitely not as bad as it was in the beginning.

Brian is still working away in the garage, he is almost done the floor! Looking forward to seeing some walls go up soon:-).
