Almost Hawaii Time!

We are making our way through the busy season and it's almost time for our vacation to Hawaii! So many last minute things to take care of, even more than we usually do before a trip since of course we have all the Christmas shopping AND Brian is finishing up with some more of the garage work. Whew!

Jasper has been causing us some drama lately, on Tuesday last week he got into the kids' advent calendars and I had to take him to the vet so they could make him throw up. I was so upset. He had shown no interest in these calendars so we stupidly left them where he could reach them. He used to always be so anxious when he was home alone that he would basically just sit on the landing and wait for us to come home. Apparently he is now comfortable enough to nose around where he doesn't belong and cause a whole lot of hassle. A few days later, he made his way out of our yard and nosed around in the neighbor's garage. The fence on the side of the house was knocked down, but none of us remember taking it down so we are wondering if he got bold enough to knock it down himself - after years of not trying it. AND THEN! On Saturday, Nathan left his plate of chicken wing bones up on the counter, which Jasper has never got up on before. Well, I guess he couldn't resist the chicken bones so he climbed up on the chair and ate all five of the wing bones:-l. I swear this dog is trying desperately to kill himself! I gave him some bread and he seems to be okay, but man - he's been a trouble maker! I hope he behaves for the dog sitters when we drop him off Wednesday. I will have to warn them about his naughty streak lately!

What else has been happening . . . last weekend there was a lot of volleyball stuff. I had a coaching clinic on Saturday and then we had a practice on Sunday. Practices are going well. I am enjoying working with Heidi, I feel like she is actually teaching the girls. It should be quite good for Lynsey, who I strongly believe is still developing her skill set. She is a bit of a late bloomer, I am excited to see how good she will get if she keeps working hard! I took Nathan shopping for Christmas gifts this past Saturday, and made gingerbread cookies with him. It was a bit stressful, I am not good at baking with the kids and never have been. I was trying to make royal icing but it wouldn't thicken and it was very frustrating. Me and egg whites do not mix:-/.

What else! Just a lot of last minute Christmas shopping and wrapping and I think we are basically ready! I have to see if I can reserve a rib roast from Fred Meyer because I am going to be gone during the time they usually sell them. We are going to have our rib dinner when we get home, probably on Boxing Day. I look forward to just being at the airport on Wednesday, all checked in and ready to go. Can't wait for some Hawaii sunshine! Will write when we get back!
