Fun in Canmore, Adam's newfound freedom

We had a really good time in Canmore last weekend! The first night was a bit rough sleep-wise, but the second night was better and by the third night, both kids slept straight though until 7:30am - it has made us braver about going away, possibly even attempting a longer vacation sometime . . . we'll have to wait and see!

Adam is cruising around everything, and with great efficiency. If I leave him standing by the couch in the living room and go into the kitchen, it isn't long and I hear his little voice coming closer and closer, and he's cruising along the wall, cupboards and appliances to get to me:). Today at Mom's group, he was in one of those Little Tykes cars for ages! After Lynsey pushed him around for a long time, I was sure he'd start whining; however, he just started kicking his legs and driving backwards - and fast! It was so incredibly cute - he seemed like such a boy instead of a baby! The teething pain seems to have subsided, but he hasn't been drinking his bottles very well lately so I'm wondering if his gums are still causing him trouble. He does have all kinds of bumps on his gums, but he won't let me check to see if anything else is poking through. In any case, his newfound cruising independence is making him a lot happier and lower maintenance, so I'm happy!

Lynsey has started showing us a bit more attitude - she'll say things like, "If you tell me one more time that you're going to wash my hair, then I'm going to get out of the tub". She uses the "If you tell me one more time" a lot - sometimes her ultimatums make sense, other times not, making me wonder if she is just saying something she has heard us say or if she understands what she's talking about. In any case, we are finding that we need to remind her a lot of how she's allowed to talk to us and what isn't acceptable. All in all, she's still a very good girl, giving me lots to laugh about day to day, and making her little brother laugh a lot, too:). She's been feeling a lot of stress lately about sharing with Adam, now that he's more mobile and more interested in her stuff. He loves her ride-on train, so guess whose interest in this toy has been rejuvenated - quite frustrating at times. I know it's totally normal, but when you have a fragile little boy who starts whining at the drop of the hat, the last thing you need is your three year old coming in and taking a toy away that's making him happy! We just continue to remind her that her stuff is his stuff, and she will have to get used to him playing with it - not what she wants to hear, but what else can we tell her?? I'm not buying him all new toys or anything!
