School volleyball wrapping up, another Halloween in the books

How can it be November already! We made it through a busy second half of October. Andy was staying with us right after my family left until last week Wednesday, and then Brian's parents came on Friday and stayed until Tuesday. It was busy but fun!

Jasper got his teeth cleaned a few weeks ago, and they had to put him under anesthesia to do this. I knew that was the case, and he has been under anesthesia before when he got neutered. They did not shave his legs then, and I was not expecting him to be shaved when I picked him up. They had shaved not one, but BOTH of his legs! The vet says this is the gold standard of care which is fine, but a little heads up would have been nice. The kicker is the only reason both legs are shaved is because he apparently pulled the catheter out of the first leg (like he's a small dog, you don't know how to restrain him properly??) so they shaved the second leg and tried again. I was very irritated by this because he literally still looks absolutely ridiculous and it's been two weeks. We had family pictures booked for Sunday, and he did not come with us this time. I'm sorry to be shallow, but it would have been way too distracting from the picture to have this silly looking dog in there.

Family pictures worked out pretty well, although we did have to make a schedule change due to the forecast. We were supposed to take them in the afternoon but the forecast was looking pretty bleak for the afternoon so at the last minute we switched to the morning. Lynsey also got her senior pictures done although I didn't get the feeling she cared all that much about them. Oh well, we got them done and now she can do with them whatever she wants.

Last Friday was the UW game night for the volleyball team which I was organizing, it was a pretty fun night! They upgraded us so we were sitting pretty much right beside the court which was nice. Brian picked up his parents from the airport that evening and they were here all weekend. Saturday I took Adam to swimming (Mark came along as well) and we hung around the house for the day. On Sunday, we went to church and watched some sports in the afternoon (Oilers win, yay!). We went to the Hollywood Tavern for dinner which was quite tasty. Lynsey started her college applications this weekend! Very exciting for her! She is applying to I think 5 different Universities in Canada. Hopefully she gets into all of them so she can choose whichever one she wants.

Monday was Senior Night for the volleyball team! They honored all the seniors (I'm still waiting for the photographers pictures and will upload them here when I get them) but Lynsey had a great game individually and they had a great team win as well. I'm so proud of how much she has grown this school season! I'm glad she's playing another season of Club, I am hoping she can end her organized volleyball days with a strong club season. On Wednesday, she even got to set for several sets and did very well! I think she's going to be setting on Saturday as well for the playoff game they have, will see how it goes.

I drove Mark and Frances to the airport Tuesday and it was back to just us in the house. I'm sure we won't have any visitors now for like a year haha. Hopefully not, I do enjoy people coming to visit!

Another big thing that happened this past week - Adam got his Invisilign braces on Wednesday. Initially it looked very hopeful that he didn't mind them, they put them on him and he wore them at school without too much drama. However, when he got home and I had him take them out and brush his teeth (he eats with them on at school and then we clean up when he gets home, less stuff for the school staff to worry about that way), he did not want to put them back on. He had a pretty big meltdown, took him a while to get calmed down. Thankfully he did put them back in and eventually I was able to leave him alone and he slowly got back to his usual self. Since then, we haven't had any issues with them. I mean, it's only the third day today, but I feel like the first few days were going to be the hardest. He seems like he has accepted his fate and even reminds us now after eating that he has to put them back in lol. I feel bad for him but I am so proud of him for adjusting so well to such a big change! We are so excited to see how well these will work for him, and we know that having his teeth adjusted will make a lot of things a lot easier for him (his teeth stick out so much it affects eating and smiling and even his talking).

Yesterday was Halloween! Very lowkey night for us. Nathan got a burger costume and went to his friend Luke's house for the first bit, went trick or treating with Luke and Bennett. They came back to our neighborhood around 8 and did a bit more trick or treating before packing it in (it was raining pretty hard so I think Nathan was quite done by then). Will this be the last year for trick or treating for this family? Might be!

Only 4 weeks until our Mexico vacation! And only one week until I go to Calgary to hang out with my La Crete friends in Canmore which should also be a great time! Love having trips to look forward to:-).
