We made it to the end of yet another school year! Nathan is officially done with middle school and we are a high school and up family, yikes! He had his moving up ceremony last Tuesday and that was it, crazy how time flies. I remember dropping little Lynsey off at the giant middle school in 6th grade and it must have been yesterday. Adam is certainly quite happy to be done with another school year, bring on summer and all the fun stuff we have planned!
Brian and Lynsey went to the Alex Warren concert a few weekends ago and had a good time. The Civic finally got picked up and will go to auction here shortly. I'm very curious how much someone will pay for that car! We donated it so we will get the tax receipt at some point, if I remember to check back in here I will let you know how much it commanded on auction:-D. I was sadder than I thought I would be to see it towed away, 23 years we had that car. It was time, but it still made me a bit nostalgic.
Brian's parents were just here for a visit, they arrived last Wednesday and left yesterday. We had a pretty relaxed time, went out a few times to eat and some shopping. On Thursday, I took them along with Adam to the Kirkland waterfront. We had a lovely time there enjoying the beautiful weather - until it was time to go. Adam kept saying he wanted "one more minute", but it seemed more like a repetition thing than him actually wanting to stay longer. As time went on and he kept refusing to leave, it became apparent that he wasn't going to go easily and I did not know what to do. It was a pretty stressful situation as he just kept getting louder and louder and I couldn't figure out how to convince him to come. I don't know how much time passed before he finally came, after we had become quite the spectacle on the waterfront (not that I much cared at that point, I was just so relieved that he finally came). When he calmed down, both Brian and I had to tell him in no uncertain terms that he cannot do that in public or we won't be able to take him places - he's such a giant now, if he doesn't listen it's not like I can just carry him to the car! I don't know what he understood, but we went out to a restaurant the next evening and he did fine so I guess it's not going to be every outing at least:-/. We are just going to have to be more diligent about having conversations before we go anywhere so he understands the expectations, I just wasn't expecting this because he goes to beaches ALL the time and this has never happened, at least not in many years. Just when you think you know what he's going to do, ugh. Anyway, even with the drama, we were able to say it was a really nice outing UNTIL that happened!
We got to celebrate Brian and his dad on Father's Day which was nice:-). Brian, Lynsey and Nathan had a PS5 NHL tournament in the afternoon which was really all Brian wanted for Father's Day from the kids (and that they could do it without being mean to each other which they sort of managed). On Thursday we leave for a little mini vacation to Cannon Beach and then to the Twilight house for a few days! Beware of the Twilight themed pictures on my next post haha.
