It's been a solid month since I checked in here, yikes! Fall is here and we have had really good Fall weather actually, today is going to be 22 degrees which is amazing for mid October. We have just been hanging around, mostly sticking close to home and in a solid routine. Brian did have a trip out to Virginia a few weeks back, and we just went to Calgary last weekend to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with Brian's family. Lynsey took the bus from Edmonton and we were all together again, which was lovely. The weather was a bit cold but it was a great Thanksgiving weekend!
Adam has been struggling a bit with repetition again after a fairly smooth start to the school year. It started in Calgary, something happened at night and now he is repeating about "sleeping by myself". It did seem a bit better yesterday so fingers crossed he is getting over the hump. I wish we knew what caused these loops to begin, so hard to break out of them:-/.
We had some bad news last week in regards to Lynsey's exam schedule. Our cruise is set to leave on Sunday December 20th at 4pm from Miami, and she has an exam on Saturday at 5:30pm in Edmonton:-/. She did have one on Monday the 21st but thankfully she was able to arrange with her professor to take it with the other section, which is writing it on the 14th. Terrible luck about that Saturday exam. We are still hoping it might change, as it hasn't been finalized, but our alternative plan is a red eye flight to Toronto with a short layover, then on to Miami for an 11am arrival. Certainly not what I would have planned, but if it all goes according to plan (or even a short delay) she should be able to make it just fine. I never in a million years would have thought she would have an exam past that Friday when I booked this cruise, in what world do students not have a two week break at Christmas?? Starting to get over my anger and just accepting the stupidity of the schedule now. If something happens to her flight and she misses the cruise, we will just book her a night in Miami, get her a flight the next day to the Dominican Republic (our first cruise port) and book her a night there. We meet up on Tuesday and she joins us on the ship. Lessons have been learned here! You do the best you can, pay the premium to book over the Christmas holidays, and STILL you can be burned! I think Lynsey could handle it if she misses the ship, I would stay behind with her if she feels uncomfortable being on her own. She is going to be 19, and she's travelled by herself several times by now (although nothing like the Dominican Republic obviously:-/), so we will have to take things as they come.
Hockey season has begun and the Oilers are off to a hot start! Hopefully it continues! Oh I included the yearly picture I take when the kids get new school portraits. I like seeing all the previous years lined up to see how much they have changed:-). Only one more picture for Adam to add in this frame! Can't believe he's in Grade 11!
