Friday we got another early start and make our way to the Red Gates in Kyoto by 9am. On the walk up there, Brian saw a street vendor selling custard fill waffles and he was so thrilled! He wasn't hungry but couldn't pass up the chance to have one:-D. It was already very busy at the Red Gates. Very cool sight for sure, we did not walk the whole loop because once you've seen one batch of red gates you've kind of seen them all. I did take a picture of the garbage can in the ladies bathroom, as I mentioned the side effect of not having bins anywhere is that people tend to abuse the ladies washroom bins:-/.
After the Red Gates we made our way over to Kiymizu-dera temple. There was several streets leading up to the temple with street vendors as we saw is pretty common with the popular temples. The setting for this temple was just beautiful, I can only imagine what it looks like in the fall with the fall colors. We had some street food and finally tried the Mont Blanc ice cream (wormy looking ice cream) - I quite enjoyed it!
We made our way back over to the hotel and went to the shopping complex on the other side of the river. We found a cute little restaurant and had another amazing meal, we were never disappointed with our food! It did not have a river view but was on such a cute street, really fun experience.
Last night in Kyoto! On to Nara and Osaka!
